The East Wing At Walpole Manor (1)

Horatio House East of England

A period drama, beautifully staged…for the ultimate luxury getaway

Step into Georgian England in this grand and elegant east wing of one of Norfolk’s finest country estates. A later addition to the main 16th century hall, Horatio House is a sumptuous country residence with ample space for up to 14 guests. The accommodation is over four floors and delightful details present themselves at every turn. The Smallbone solid oak kitchen, complete with Aga, boasts a huge 15th century dining table for convivial suppers – there is a separate dining room too, of course. In the high-ceilinged sitting and drawing rooms, original artworks adorn the walls, period furniture and Persian carpets add warmth and charm, and huge windows frame views across the estate, towards the 10-acre lake. Upstairs is no less impressive, where the 7 bedrooms promise the sweetest of dreams, with Vi-Spring pocketed sprung beds, fine Egyptian cotton sheets and goose down pillows. Outside, there’s a private garden and terrace where you can enjoy drinks and barbecues in the summer months. This beautiful estate was once home to Horatio Walpole, godfather to Horatio Nelson, who was named after him and was a frequent guest at the estate.

Guest reviews

Beautiful property set in amazing location. We enjoyed a meal at The Saracens Head and The Walpole Arms, both equally good. Would recommend seal trips at Blakeney Point. Lovely to be able to stroll around the grounds of the Hall. Thank you for a great long weekend.

Palmers and Party, London

We have had the most magical Christmas ever! Horatio House is spectacular, comfort sublime, the owners have thought of everything you could ever want. The surroundings are beautiful, enabling us to take just enough exercise to counteract the gluttony encouraged by the fabulous kitchen.
